TeesDance is delighted to announce our first Skills Session: Dance in Schools with Fiona Alderson. This session is suitable for dance practitioners and new graduates who are looking to develop their creative practice within an education setting, focusing on Secondary Schools.
During the session there will be:
Discussion of how dance fits within the National Curriculum
Breakdown of how to create a Scheme of Work/Learning
How to tailor your offer to what schools are looking for
Practical tasks and tools for delivering activity
Understanding what makes an outstanding lesson
A Q&A with Fiona
The session will be led by Fiona Alderson who began dancing from the age of 3 and was fortunate enough to turn this love of dance into a career. Over the past 20 years, Fiona has taught in international schools, alternative provision and mainstream schools in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Fiona has also worked closely with Pearson with the training for BTEC Performing Arts as well as moderating for the subject, in addition to that she has also been an examiner for GCSE and A-Level Dance.
