Behind the scenes on filming day.
The moves are locked in, and now they're on camera.
On Wednesday 26 August we spent the day at Ruff Diamond Academy in Hartlepool with lead artists Teissy Easton and Zach Healey and videographer Andy Winward. The job was simple: film the MFC 150 choreography so every one of our 300+ performers can practise in their own time, at their own pace.
We filmed two versions of the routine.
The full routine. The choreography as it'll be danced on the pitch.
The easy routine. The same piece with simpler moves, and a seated option all the way through.
The easy version matters to us. Our cast runs from 8 to 80+, and everyone should be able to learn this piece in a way that works for their body. Seated dancers are part of the show, not an afterthought.
The tutorials are just for our cast, so we're keeping the choreography under wraps until 17 October. If you're performing, your group leader will share the videos with you. Pause, rewind and go again as many times as you like.
For everyone else: you'll see it for the first time on the pitch at the Riverside. No spoilers.
