The Young MFC Cast take the floor.
Sunday 20 September was a big one. Our Young MFC Cast spent the whole day at Middlesbrough College rehearsing with lead choreographers Jenny Chrisp, Hannah Wintie-Hawkins and Zach Healey.
These are the youth dance companies and young dancers who'll carry some of the most demanding sections of the piece. Six hours in the studio, and you could see it coming together: sharper formations, bigger energy and a lot of focus.
It was also the first rehearsal with the finished music. The score is now complete, with music by Tom Powell Music and musicians from Tees Valley Music Service. Every note was made right here in the Tees Valley, by students, alumni and teachers of the music service. Hearing it fill the room for the first time was a moment.
The day was busy behind the camera too. Andy Winward filmed the rehearsal and grabbed some vox pops, photographer Francis captured the action, and Middlesbrough College media students were filming behind the scenes.
Next up: the whole company together for the first time on Sunday 4 October.
