Tees Valley’s flagship charity for dance

Dance belongs here.

We exist to make dance part of everyday life - across Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton-on-Tees, Darlington and Hartlepool.

TeesDance brings people together — through care-led, community-driven work that connects culture, health and wellbeing across the Tees Valley. We create paid opportunities for artists who are made here, and we build something that lasts.

What we do.

We use dance to move people — physically, emotionally, socially.

1.

Get people dancing.

Welcoming opportunities in places people know and trust, particularly for those with the fewest opportunities.

2.

Help people progress.

From first steps to youth company, choreography and national platforms — clear routes for everyone.

3.

Support local artists.

Paid work, commissions, connections and visibility for Tees Valley dance artists.

4.

Make dance visible.

Advocacy, campaigns, public performance and civic moments across all five boroughs.

What we are working towards.

Everything we do is measured against the change we want to see — not just the activity we deliver.

Connection and belonging.

People feel more socially connected and experience a greater sense of belonging.

Wellbeing, creativity and confidence.

People experience improved wellbeing, creativity and confidence.

Access for those with the fewest opportunities.

More people who face barriers can access high-quality dance in their local area.

Opportunities to create & progress.

More people have opportunities to take part in, develop and progress through dance.

The dance sector in the Tees Valley is more connected, better supported and more visible.

A stronger local dance sector.

Where we work.

We work in communities that have historically had the least access to dance and culture — taking high-quality dance to the places and people who are least likely to find it and most likely to benefit from it.

TeesDance creates space for people to connect, express themselves and feel like they belong“
