What happened at TeesDance Summer School 2026.
In August 2026, TeesDance brought its first ever summer school to the Tees Valley — three days of creative dance at Yarm Prep School, open to any young person aged 8 to 16.
Led by Beth Pattison, a professional dance artist from Motionhouse Dance Company, the sessions mixed creative movement, improvisation, collaborative performance-making and — just as importantly — the chance to meet new people and try something new.
No experience was needed. Young people came from across Teesside, from complete beginners to those already dancing regularly. Over three days they warmed up, explored ideas, built skills and made something together — ending each day with a shared performance and a moment to reflect on what they'd created.
THE ARTIST BEHIND THE SUMMER SCHOOL Beth Pattison
Dancer, Motionhouse Dance Company
Beth is a professional dance artist with Motionhouse Dance Company — one of the UK's most celebrated physical theatre companies. She led all three days of TeesDance Summer School 2026, taking young people through creative movement, improvisation and performance-making with warmth, skill and infectious energy.
Beth brought world-class practice straight to Teesside — and the young people she worked with responded to every challenge she set.
